Massage
Therapist Emma Gilmore who is based in North Chideock aims to increase
the overall health and well being of her clients. Emma originally
studied Rhythmical Massage (a gentle rhythmic quality of touch which
penetrates deeply, to help harmonise the imbalances of the body)
in Ireland in 1994, where she lived as part of a Camphill Community;
here she worked with great results on both the adults with special
needs and their co-workers. More recently Emma trained in Swedish
Massage and Sports Injury Massage, which she practices from her
tranquil treatment room in North Chideock, surrounded of some of
West Dorset's most spectacular countryside.
"Massage
aims to prompt the body to self heal" says Emma. "The therapeutic
value of touch alone is an important ingredient of massage which
conveys a sense of caring, an important ingredient of healing".
Massage
can be used to relax the body and therefore the mind or equally
to awaken and stimulate the body and mind. It also increases awareness
of the body mind connection.
Massage
may improve circulation, which increases blood flow, bringing fresh
oxygen to the body tissues. This can assist in the elimination of
waste products, to speed healing after injury and enhance recovery
from disease.
Therapeutic
massage can be used to promote general well being and enhance self
esteem, while boosting the immune and circulatory systems to benefit
blood pressure, circulation, muscle tone, digestion and skin tone.
Breathing may also deepen during massage as a result of complete
body relaxation.
